Skin Tags

Skin tags are common, harmless growths that tend to develop as people age. They occur more frequently in people who are obese, or who have underlying diabetes mellitus.

Symptoms

Skin tags may be skin-coloured or pigmented. They are usually small, ranging in size from 2-5mm, but can occasionally grow up to a few centimeters.

Skin tags are most often found in body folds, such as the neck and armpits.

Treatments

Skin tags can be left alone. However, they can be removed if their appearance bothers you, or if they rub against your clothes or jewelry, causing irritation. Skin tags can be removed with snip excision or electrosurgery, following application of a numbing cream or injection.
